A Q’eros man plays a traditional flute in a Paucartambo community near Cusco, Peru. Among the most isolated of all Andean groups, the Q’eros live on the eastern, Amazon side of the mountains, where no roads reach. The people spend much of each year living in small hamlets of thatched houses, tucked in the upper gorges that extend down from high pastures.
