Upside Down House, Austria

Image

In the small western Austrian village of Terfens, Polish Architects, Irek Glowacki and Marek Rozhanski have unveiled a house that is literally upside down, both inside and out – It’s now open as a tourist attraction.

Image

Although there’s been many fictional portrayals of upside down homes, this one is particularly unique because unlike others, the actual house itself, including the foundation, appears to be fully turned on it’s head – as opposed to those who simply place items in an otherwise normal house onto the room’s ceiling.

Image

Inside, the rooms have an anti-gravity effect. As visitors romp around on the ceilings, each personal effect of the home is kept in place. The fantastical family that “lives” in the upside-down house presumably has young children. Toys dot the outside of the house, and are strewn in the family living and dining area. Stools hang at head height, poised against a counter top.

One in a Million “RED/GREEN” Apple

Image

Ken Morrish of Colaton Raleigh, Devon, England was out picking apples in his garden one day when he came upon this very rare two-toned apple.  Thought to be caused by a genetic mutation, the odds of finding an apple like this are a million to one!

A New Way to lose your wedding ring

Image

After sixteen long years of searching in and out of their kitchen, Swedish couple Lena and Ola Paahlsson who had given up hope finally found their long lost diamond wedding ring in the most unlikely of places. Lena was working in her garden when she noticed a carrot that had an unusual bit of luster sprouting from within it’s top. She uprooted the carrot out of the ground and quickly realized that it was her white-gold band with seven small diamonds, the very one she thought she lost forever in her kitchen during the winter holiday season of 1995.

The whole time Lena believed that the ring might have gone down the drain along with all the other “vegetable peelings” that get turned into compost or fed to their sheep. Despite all failed attempts to recover the ring, including the removal of their kitchen tile – the couple never lost their determination. Theories were thrown around to try to explain the bizarre case of this missing ring – one of which Husband Ola believes it could have fallen into the garden, eaten by one of the sheep then ‘processed’ it’s way back to the ground.

World's Biggest Bunny

Image

Darius is the world’s largest bunny. At only 2 years old he is 49 lbs and stretching to a length of 4 feet, 3 inches from nose to puffy tail! His owner, Annette Edwards, plans to bulk the bunny up another lbs! He has a pretty good diet with 12 carrots a day, and hay, cabbage, apples, and of course rabbit mix. Darius is now on tour all over the world, he is even bringing out a book for children.

Darius is insured for $1.6 million, has an agent and travels with a bodyguard who reportedly makes about $100,000 a year just to wrangle a rabbit.

Ballpoint Pen Art

Image

It’s hard to figure out which one is the photograph and which one is drawn using simple Bic ballpoint pens. Samuel Silva is a 29-year-old from Portugal.  He draws photographic quality images using everyday Bic ballpoint pens.

Image

Samuel Silva :- Ballpoint pen is not my only medium, it’s just the one I’m currently trying to master. At this point in my life I’m proficient with chalk, pencil, color pencil, pastels, oils and acrylics…Ballpoint pens are as underestimated as they are a powerful medium.  It’s not about what you use, it’s about how you use it.

Image

For work this good you would think Silva is a professional artist.  Perhaps the most unbelievable part of this story is that this guy is a lawyer!  He makes these amazing drawings in his free time.  The picture above is based on a photograph by Kristina Tararina and only took him about 30 hours to complete

Image

Q:How many colors do you have and what pens are these?
A: I have 8 colored Bic ballpoint pens, for this I used 6 of them plus black. They are just common everyday ballpoint pens.
Q: Where do you get them? I have never seen them.
A: Staples, Ebay, Amazon, and pretty much any good office supply store, just because you haven’t noticed them before doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
Q: Do you use any other medium mixed with the ballpoint pens?
A: No, I just use ballpoint pens for these drawings. Everything is 100% ballpoint pen.
Q: How do you mix the colors? How do you blend them?
A: I don’t mix them nor blend them. Ballpoint pen ink dries instantly and can not be erased. I just cross hatch the different colors in layers to create the illusion of blending and the illusion of colors I don’t actually have.
Q: Are you a professional Artist?
A: No, I’m just a lawyer, art is just a hobby for me, although it takes from 5 to 50 hours to finish each drawing. I started drawing when I was 2.
